Day 1. Hanoi – Ky Son
Meals: Lunch, dinner | Accommodation: Ancient house

We depart from your hotel and exit Hanoi to the West. We travel across the Red River delta to reach one of the best preserved ancient villages of the area. Arriving there about 10am, we get an introduction of the village, its people and the lodge we will stay in tonight. We’ll have authentic local cuisine for lunch, and the opportunity to learn how to prepare it. In the afternoon we take a leisure cycling ride in the surroundings. Nice rustic setting, small paths along agricultural fields. We will visit a communal house and a pagoda before returning to the lodge. Herbal bath and candle dinner in the yard, we told you that you would be treated well.

Day 2. Ky Son – Pu Luong nature reserve
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner | Accommodation: Forest ecolodge

The day starts with a session of traditional local tai chi and a greedy breakfast. We then hit the road and drive along the Ho Chi Minh highway to the South. We enter progressively the Tam Diep limestone mountain range, letting the highway behind and heading to the green of Pu Luong nature reserve. At the entrance of the reserve, we get off and start hiking. Easy walk on earthen paths, we pass hamlets and cross streams on small wooden bridges. We arrive at a beautiful ecolodge tucked away between two streams in a nook of a valley. Warm welcome from the family who runs the place. Check in your cosy wooden bungalow on stilts by the cascades and the natural pools. Take it easy, relax, the dinner should be served soon.

Day 3. Full day in Pu Luong nature reserve
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner | Accommodation: Forest ecolodge

The program of the day will be let entirely up to your preferences. We can go for a full day trek across the forest, we can arrange some fun and easy canyoning, there is also a possibility for some leisure walking around, horse riding or cycling. This is totally flexible and you may also prefer to stay near the cascades or on your bungalow’s balcony with a good book.

Day 4. Pu Luong – Tam Coc
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner | Accommodation: Rural ecolodge

After breakfast, served in the pergola or on your balcony, we pack and bid farewell to our friendly hosts. We have about an hour and a half hiking to get back on the sealed road where our vehicle is awaiting us. Lunch en route and the arrival at the ecolodge is expected in the early afternoon. The lodge is made of small stone-walled buildings, inspired by traditions and perfectly integrated in their rural setting right at the heart of the “Inland Halong bay”. We spend the rest of the day travelling by bicycle on narrow winding roads. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 5. Inland Halong bay – Hanoi
Meals: Breakfast, lunch | Accommodation: N/A

This is another day with a very flexible program. The region is very rich in natural and cultural sites. Temples, grottoes, sampan rides around the limestone rock formations, there are loads of things to do. Among them we highly recommend taking a sampan ride across the Van Long nature reserve and a visit to the former imperial capital of Hoa Lu. We start our way back to Hanoi after lunch to avoid traffic insanity of rush hours and arrive about 4pm.
